PPP Salary Calculator — Compare Salaries Across Countries

This free PPP salary calculator converts your after-tax monthly salary into international dollars using the World Bank household-consumption PPP factor, then shows the gross salary needed in another country for equivalent purchasing power. It supports 20 countries, accounts for simplified average income-tax differences, and compares the result with a normal currency conversion.

Compare the real lifestyle value of salaries across India, UAE, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, the Gulf, and Asia. Choose your current country and gross monthly salary, select a destination, and set your goal: maintain your lifestyle, improve it, or reserve more for savings and remittances. The calculator uses World Bank 2025 household and NPISH consumption PPP factors, estimates taxes in both countries, highlights zero-income-tax destinations, and shows a market exchange-rate conversion for reference.

The calculator uses World Bank indicator PA.NUS.PRVT.PP — household and NPISH final-consumption PPP factors in local currency units per international dollar — fetched for 2025. It estimates source take-home pay using a simplified average effective tax rate, divides that by the source PPP factor, applies the selected goal multiplier (1.0, 1.25, or 0.85), and multiplies by the destination PPP factor. The required destination take-home is then grossed up by its simplified tax rate. World Bank PA.NUS.FCRF official exchange rates provide the reference-only currency conversion.

When Would You Use This?

Professionals considering a move from India to Dubai can compare a rupee salary with the UAE salary that offers similar day-to-day purchasing power, while seeing the impact of zero personal income tax.

Job seekers negotiating an overseas offer can compare the required gross salary with expected take-home pay instead of relying on a currency converter that ignores local prices and taxes.

Expats planning savings or remittances can use the goal adjustment to estimate a more conservative lifestyle budget and keep a larger share available for financial commitments back home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a PPP salary calculator?
A PPP salary calculator compares what money can buy in different countries. It converts after-tax salary into international dollars using local price levels, then calculates the destination salary needed for similar purchasing power and grosses it up for estimated income tax.
Why is PPP better than currency conversion for salary comparison?
Currency conversion tells you the market value of money, but not how much housing, food, transport, and everyday services cost locally. Purchasing power parity adjusts for those price differences, making it more useful for lifestyle and salary comparisons.
How much salary do I need in Dubai to match my India lifestyle?
Choose India as the from-country, enter your gross monthly salary, and choose UAE as the destination. The calculator estimates your Indian take-home pay, converts it using World Bank household-consumption PPP factors, and shows the UAE monthly salary needed. Since the UAE has no personal income tax on salary, the estimated required amount is all take-home pay.
Does this calculator account for income tax differences?
Yes. It applies a simplified average effective tax rate to estimate take-home pay in taxable countries and treats UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, and Saudi Arabia as zero-income-tax destinations. It is an estimate and does not model personal deductions, tax brackets, social insurance, or residency rules.
How often is World Bank PPP data updated?
World Bank PPP conversion factors are published annually, with non-benchmark years generally extrapolated using price-index data. This calculator uses the latest 2025 household-consumption factors available as of August 2026. Qatar uses its latest published factor, from 2024, because its 2025 value is currently blank in the World Bank API.
